Beaverton Parade Sept 09

For many years, I took my children to watch the Beaverton Parade. During one of those parades, we met and fell for Pink Martini and their amazing music. About 12 years ago, I convinced a small group of coworkers that we should participate not just watch. And every year since then, our numbers have grown until this year we had more than 125 participants in our group alone! How exciting- and that was on a day that rained and rained. But how much fun we had "Dancing in the Streets!"

The link above shows that the Grand Marshall was Mariel Zagunis. It seems like only yesterday when she was just a little girl running around school. Time sure does fly!

Ben's holding the umbrella for our friend Lynnettee while she fills the bags full of candy. This parade is known for participants passing out candy to the spectators. It takes a lot of candy to cover a two mile parade!

Sister Rita , my boss, is in the middle. She's waving! Sister Theresa Lan is to her left. STL takes care of me. She brings me fresh figs and tomatoes from the garden. Yum, yum!

Janet, Candice and Rebecca- smiles in spite of the rain!

Janet and her husband Frank...funny umbrella!

While we aren't quite ready to make it a bead throwing parade, I did manage to get fleur de lis prints on our shirts. It's a start!
