Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow '09

The weather forecasters said "expect rain this afternoon," "it will be 40 degrees this afternoon," "the rain has come back." They said "carry chains in the Gorge but there will be no snow in the valley." Why, oh why do we listen to them? In this case, I am so glad they were wrong. I was watching "The Tooth Fairy" {quite the gory version} when Ben called and said it was snowing downtown. I hadn't even realized that there was a nice covering right outside our front door! I paused the movie (yeah for streaming Netflix movies directly to the TV - double yeah for my geek husband who insisted on the blu-ray player that makes it happen in HD!), grabbed the camera and headed outside. I only had a few minutes before I had to start the car and go pick up Ben at the Max station. The kids on our street already had their sleds out and were "snowboarding" down the driveways.
It's only been snowing about half hour and look how white things are already becoming.
Look closely. I took this picture because of the red berries.
Trees surrounding the Max station. I kept driving around the parking lot so that I would know if it started getting icy. Fortunately, we didn't have to put the chains on to make it home.
It was slow going on the way home but everyone was very careful. I'm so glad that Ben got off early this afternoon because there are many people still trying to get home five hours later.
This was a beautiful willow bush. The picture doesn't do it justice.

We were about a mile from home and it was really starting to come down fast and furious.
I love the snow but this picture makes me look like an elf. If you look closely, you could probably see my pointy ears!
Look how it hard it is coming down. Stick out your tongue and catch it before it falls!
The trees in the backyard were full of snow. So very pretty. And now it's snowing again! They say it's not supposed to stay but since the thermometer outside our back door says 31 degrees... we'll have to wait and see!
This was when we were driving home this afternoon. WOW! {It's only about 30 seconds long.}
