A Fairy Tale Valentine

For my birthday last year, Ben got me the beautiful Aurora figure with Prince Phillip awakening her with a kiss. I had no idea there were more in the series. So Friday began the 3 days of Valentines. Friday after dinner, Ben brought out this box and said "Day 1." WOW! Jim Shore is the amazingly talented artist of this series. All these are carved out of wood and beautifully painted. The work is so intricate and every time I look at them, I see another facet of the statue.
Saturday brought a new favorite statue...Aurora gazes lovingly into her Prince's eyes. Sunday, after church, we went to Nona Emilia's for lunch. The pasta was magnificent and my darling surprised me yet again. We were finishing up our meal and Ben asked our waiter to sent another waiter to him. It was all very odd until I realized which table he was talking about. There was an older couple sitting across from us and Ben asked for their check. As the tears rolled down my face, I remembered another Valentine two years ago in New Orleans when a similar event happened. I am a lucky woman to have such a caring husband!
And then when we got home, there was another present. This one is so cool! The three fairies are watching over as Aurora and Phillip dance to "Once Upon a Dream." Needless to say I cried and cried. Then we turned on the little light at their heads and I wound it over and over to watch it play!
A Fairy Tale Valentine indeed!

Superbowl XLIV

All over the world, fans are watching LA 'BREES' IANA and our fine New Orleans Saints! We were no exception. Ben and I went to watch the Superbowl with some of Ben's coworkers (who have quickly become old friends). We don't hold it against them because they're from Mississippi- they make a mean jambalaya! There was 7 of us all together eatin' fine cajun food, drinkin' and yellin' at the TV! And when the Saints kicked that successful onside kick, there wasn't a dry eye in the house because we knew it was the beginning of the end!

What a game huh? 43 years in the making! I have to say though that as the final seconds ticked down, we grew silent. The cheers stopped and we all just looked at each other. As reality set in so did shock. The Saints actually won the Superbowl! Did we doubt just a little? Never! Did we know deep in our souls that this was the year? Absolutely! I think we just needed a moment of silence for it all to sink in! And then the cheers erupted all over again as the players began to celebrate. The Saints won the Superbowl! And the best part is my Dad called as we were yelling and screaming and I got to celebrate with him! Life is good!
I added this picture because it is a great example of responsible parenting. The "photo op" wasn't more important that their son's hearing. I was once again so very impressed with Drew Brees and his wife Brittany. We know they have worked hard and given back to their community in many ways. That they value their family makes it all the more touching!

Who Dat? Almost time!

Who dat? is a chant of team support by sports fans, used especially by fans of the New Orleans Saints. The entire chant is: "Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints? Who dat? Who dat?"
