Ashley's Graduation

After 3 long years, we're headed to Salem for a very happy occasion...the Williamette University College of Law Graduation. Ashley has worked so hard for this day and here we are. There were lots of people in attendance and she appreciated everyone being there for her.I took lots of pictures so I'm going to show you the ones that I enjoyed the most. This was a beautiful stream that flows through the University. {This artificial stream is named the Mill Race, although it is commonly referred to as "the Mill Stream." It forms a "W" shape when viewed from the University Center.}

My oldest and my youngest...Allisa had to have a picture with her "little" brother when Anthony wore Elvis glasses to the ceremony!
Ashley was so proud to get that J.D. She wanted to take pictures with each of us, first, her big sister!
Smile! Still wearing those glasses, huh!
Ashley and Jane (her future mother-in-law). So cute!
This picture cracked me up. Sam (Brady's dad) and Ashley were trying to be serious and Brady kept sticking his head out from behind them. Love the teeth, Brady!
Proud Mama!
Wait, take another one of us now that the robes are gone!
Ashley learned very quickly that if she put the hat back on and walked over to the buffet table, people would let her cut in. She brought back lots of snacks for the group!
Allisa and husband Dennis, cuties!
Ashley enjoyed showing off her new shirt "Trust Me, I'm a Lawyer" while cutting her cake.
Ashley, I am so very proud of you. My daughter, a Doctor of Jurisprudence, can relax for today because tomorrow it's time to start your Bar preparation classes. Soon you'll be headed back to Salem one last time for your swearing in ceremony. I can't wait for that day!

Groovin' for a Cure

Ben and I spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon volunteering for a very worthy cause. Classmates of 2008 Valley Catholic alum Danny Keagbine put together a benefit concert to help with some of his medical expenses. To read more about the afternoon, click here. {Danny is in the gray shirt to the far left.}Hey baby...how's the view up there? It's a great spot to see all the festivities and make sure everyone is on their best behavior. Our official jobs were "grounds patrol" but everyone was great, having a fun time and the bands were pretty good too!

Shopping for sparkles!

So Ashley probably wouldn't care if everyone show her dress before the wedding but I do. I'm only posting this picture of the girls (well Allisa really) playing around. That way very little of the dress shows and it can still be a surprise. Allisa couldn't find a flower big enough to tease Ashley with but this one worked just fine. We had a great time as Ashley tried headpieces and jewelry for the wedding. She finally decided on a tiara like headpiece and matching bracelet. I can't wait to see her walk down the aisle!

Sunday outing 5-2-10

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we are headed to the Waterfront. This is a tower at the Max station that I thought was so coolOur destination... the Cinco de Mayo festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. The weather is supposed to be halfway decent so we are looking forward to getting out. Did you know that we got 24 days of rain in April? Ugh!

But then, we didn't even go in. We walked all around the festival and decided there wasn't really anything we were interested in seeing so we headed to Saturday Market.
One stop by the river...wait baby, let me take your picture!
Look at the busy street. Good thing we took Max cuz there was no parking left!
This is such a cool picture. We might have to enlarge it. The greenish building with the sphere (to the left) is the Convention Center.
Here's another great shot of downtown Portland.
We walked and walked and walked until we made it to Saturday Market.
We watched an artist as she worked on her latest creation. It was cool to watch someone else be so creative. I wish I could paint but that turns out even worse than my latest attempt at Dance Dance Revolution. I can't dance, I can't paint. I just have to find another way to be creative!
Time for a snack. Ben and I shared a really good burger and even better fries. All the while, we watched people. There were some fun ones, some happy ones and some down right weird ones.It was a beautiful day but not that warm. Surprisingly, there were children playing in the fountain... At least the fountain stream was strategically placed so you can't see anything! He was running all over and laughing the whole time.
An entertaining man, he said that he was a circus all on his own. I think he had as much metal in piercings as he did in the "knives" he was juggling!
A one man band...he was actually pretty good. We listened to him as we were waiting for Max to arrive.
Another pretty skyline- too bad it's time to head home. But we have to make it to Costco before they close so time to catch a train!
